If elected, a Marshall Liberal Government will double the current sports voucher value from $50 to $100, lowering the costs for families with primary school aged children participating in sport and recreation.

“A Marshall Liberal Government will lower costs for South Australian families by giving more primary school aged children the opportunity to play sport with a $100 voucher for each child each year to go towards the cost of club membership and registration fees,” said Shadow Minister for Sport and Recreation Corey Wingard.

“We’ll also give the Sports Vouchers Program certainty by providing funding each year over the next four years, and we’ll expand the criteria for funding so that more recreational activities are eligible.

“Every child who wants to play organised sport or other recreational activities should have the opportunity to, because we know the benefits for kids growing up such as good physical health outcomes, instilling confidence, and being part of a team.

“Unfortunately, skyrocketing cost of living is having an impact on families and clubs, with many struggling to afford to pay membership and registration fees, and sports clubs forced to increase their fees to keep up with their rising costs.

“That’s why a Marshall Liberal Government will give families the $100 sports vouchers to offset the cost of club membership and registration, which will give more kids the opportunity to be healthy and active in their chosen sport.

“Junior sports and grassroots sports are so important to the fabric of our community and it’s important we give as many children as possible the opportunity to participate and be part of a club environment.

“I’m very pleased with this announcement as part of our Strong Plan for Real Change, as it not only lowers costs for South Australian families but it’s also a shot in the arm for junior sports participation.”
