State–wide blackout goes under the spotlight

03Mar

A Parliamentary committee established to investigate the state-wide blackout that plunged South Australia into darkness in September last year will meet for the first time today.

The Essential Services Commission and SA Power Networks will be questioned about the causes and consequences of the state-wide blackout.

“South Australians have the right to know how a storm in the north of the state could bring down our entire electricity system,” said Shadow Minister for Energy Dan van Holst Pellekaan.

“This will be a thorough, independent, multi-party investigation of all aspects of the blackout, including how to prevent it happening again.”
