Have your say on $12 million to improve railway crossings

25Aug

With $12 million allocated to upgrading or closing railway crossings in South Australia, Member for Stuart, Dan van Holst Pellekaan MP, is encouraging the community to have their say on how this funding is spent.
All level and pedestrian crossings in South Australia are being reviewed with a draft Railway Crossing Safety Strategy released for public consultation.
“According to the report, incidents involving vehicles are more common at rural railway crossings, with more incidents along the Adelaide to Port Augusta train line than any other line in the state,” Mr van Holst Pellekaan said.
“This is obviously of huge concern to me and no doubt to the community.
“There has been $12 million allocated over the next four years to upgrade or reduce crossings and I strongly encourage people to have their say so that we can improve the safety of crossings.”
